Elburn man plans 'Tiger' attack on furThursday, December 28, 2000 The Kane County Chronicle (Illinois) CHICAGO – Animal rights activist Steve Hindi of Elburn presented the newest and most high-tech weapon against animal cruelty: The Tiger, a custom-made truck equipped with a 60-inch video screen in the front, and 100-inch video screens on each side and in the back. The screens display footage of animals suffering in traps, including family cats and dogs. The screens will also show mangled, cage-crazy, ranch-raised animals suffering "for people willing to trade compassion for fashion," Hindi said. Wednesday night's inaugural Tiger visit will focus on Neiman Marcus at 737 N. Michigan Ave. Other furriers will soon receive similar visits, Hindi said. Hindi, president of Showing Animals Respect and Kindness, say he's not trying to change the minds of fur-wearers. "People like that just don't give a damn," Hindi said. "We intend to who all the other people with hearts what fur wearers are willing to do to animals for the vanity. We think the average person on the street will let the heartless minority know what they think about such insensitivity." SHARK's Tiger has just returned from its initial trip to Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Kansas City on issues ranging from rodeos, bullfighting, Korean dog slaughter and furs. "Trendy Beverly Hills, California, received a special jolt with the reality of the fur issue, with many wealthy shoppers swearing off their stolen skins on the spot," Hindi reported. The Tiger attracted attention fro both the public and media everywhere it went, he said. The Tiger is the first of a planned international fleet of video trucks that will raise public awareness of animal issues that are often ignored by the mainstream media, he said. |
