Here's What You Can Do!After viewing SHARK's videofootage of the shocking, Larry Lepore, Superintendent of Parks for the Hayward Area Recreation & Park District (HARD), recommended that Cotton Rosser and the Flying U Rodeo Company be banned from the facility for one year (including the 2009 rodeo), but is not recommending any fines of either Mr. Rosser or the Rowell Ranch Rodeo Association. Please take a moment and thank Mr. Lapore for his recommendation to ban Flying U and Cotton Rosser from HARD. Encourage him to also institute the fine in such cases of blatant disregard of regulations and humane handling. The HARD policy also requires an on-site veterinarian for all rodeo events. It further requires two weeks advance notice to both Animal Control and the SPCA of any upcoming rodeos. Reportly, these notices HAVE NOT been submitted to either agency in recent years. Please express your views to the following offices. Urge officials to uphold California state laws regarding the violations at the Rowell Ranch Rodeo by prosecuting the offenders. Urge HARD to uphold Mr. Lapore's recommendations.

Oakland/East Bay SPCA Trader Joe's Caught Sponsoring Cruelty?SHARK was surprised and disappointed to see that Trader Joe's was a sponsor of this rodeo. Please let Trader Joe's know how you feel about their sponsorship of this abusive rodeo and rodeos in general. Urge Trader Joe's to watch SHARK's footage on RowellRodeoCruelty.com and TheCruelTruth.com.
Chairman and CEO Dan Bane e-mail here: http://www.traderjoes.com/general_feedback_form.aspx. Then go to CorporateThugs.com to learn more about the other unethical sponsors of rodeo. Trader Joe's response as of May 28, 2008 is encouraging, but the company needs to hear from more customers urging TJ's to adopt a clear corporate policy against any of their stores sponsoring rodeos or any other abusive event. Please write and call! Wednesday, May 28, 2008 We appreciate your request. We encourage our stores to participate in their communities through donations and sponsorships as we do not donate directly from our corporate offices. We recommend you contact the store closest to your event for further assistance. You can also read our donation guidelines on our website. Please click on the link below to check it out. http://www.traderjoes.com/Attachments/donation_guidelines.pdf Our stores choose the sponsors on their own and the particular Trader Joe's that sponsored the Rodeo did not do their research and expected the city to be following the rodeo laws and regulations. This was not a corporate decision and this concern has been taken seriously and taken care of. Thank you,
Nicki K.
