National Poll Exposes Rodeo's "Animal Welfare Coordinator" as Spin DoctorAs the 2008 Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo kicked off another year of brutality, the Associated Press ran an article covering the rodeo. MSNBC included a poll on their website accompanying the AP article. The purpose of the MSNBC poll was to take a snapshot of the public's opinion regarding the treatment of animals used by rodeos, specifically asking responders if electrically shocking animals for "performance" and steer busting were cruel.
That all changed once the person supposedly in charge of animal welfare at the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) got involved. SHARK has for years been exposing Cindy Schonholtz, the PRCA's "Animal Welfare Coordinator", as having the biggest hoax of a title we've ever come across. Based upon every action we've ever seen Ms. Schonholtz take, it seems that her real purpose is to scorn any genuine concern or help for the victims of rodeo--and this poll was no exception. Ms. Animal Welfare Coordinator posted the below notice on approximately a dozen pro-rodeo websites and sent the notice to her wide circle of rodeo minions, including the American Quarter Horse Association.
--------------- MSNBC has run a story about animal rights activists targetting Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo, they have a poll along with this story, at this point the animal rights folks are winning this poll, it seems you can only vote once so please vote NO and forward widely so we can show how much support rodeo has, here is the link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25725545/
Thanks, Unlike real animal protectors, apparently Ms. Schonholtz has nothing better to do with her time but to spend it drumming up votes for shocking and roping from these rodeo supporters. The rodeo people are so desperate that the announcer at the Cheyenne Frontier Days even made a special plea on the loudspeaker to get people to go vote in this poll. But the truly appalling player in this poll twister is the involvement of the Executive Director of Judges at the American Quarter Horse Association, Alex Ross. After he received Cindy's above email, Mr. Ross gleefully forwarded it to all his AQHA buddies and even went so far as to then send the request to vote "No" to the AQHA "cattle classes"! SHARK has been exposing the AQHA's efforts against horses for years. This organization purports to care about our equine friends but has been a loyal rodeo sponsor for years, while untold numbers of horses are injured, abused, and killed by rodeos. THe AQHA also holds a position in favor of horse slaughter. And now, the AQHA Director of Judges is also apparently not against electrically shocking horses in rodeos either.
