SHARK Shuts Down Slaughter for 2 Hours

"Next time we'll shut them down all day"

Dear Friends,

Television icon and animal activist Bob Barker's recent one million dollar donation to SHARK took vivid form for the cowardly pigeon killers of the Philadelphia Gun Club last Saturday. Shortly after they began their slaughter, a boat pulled up just off their shoreline. That boat was SHARK's latest move to stop the illegal killing.

The killers had to immediately stop the shooting for fear of hitting the boat and its crew.

For two hours the killers had to cool their heels until, interestingly, a New Jersey State Police boat arrived for a safety check. Or, considering how many of the club's killers come from New Jersey, perhaps the arrival of the police wasn't that surprising after all.

The police managed to find a missing piece of documentation from a recent change in the law, forcing our boat to leave for the time being. Rest assured that the required documentation will be present the next time around, and the killers will again be crying in their martinis.

Meanwhile, local SHARK volunteers, including Alexis Tsiouris were posted in the front of the club property to video document all traffic going in and out of the club. The volunteers filmed club members who illegally covered up their license plates to avoid being identified as part of the slaughter.

Shot and abandoned pigeon left to die on Philly Gun Club's riverbank.

The already tense environment became downright dangerous when one of the shooters used his automobile to threaten the documenters. If this clown thought his antics would surmount the bravery of documenters, he was sorely mistaken.

Instead, SHARK sent the Bensalem Township Police Department video documentation of the automobile threat, as well as the covering up of license plates, as these are violations of Pennsylvania traffic laws.

We also sent the police video clips showing wounded and abandoned pigeons. Every pigeon shot is a victim of cruelty. Every wounded pigeon shot and left to suffer is a victim of neglect. Every wounded pigeon that escapes is legally abandoned.

You can see the video evidence SHARK sent the police:

Bensalem Township Police have stated that they are unable to make arrests because Bucks County District Attorney is refusing to prosecute this obvious violation of Pennsylvania Humane Laws.

It is time that Pennsylvania's elected officials be held accountable for this abuse, and SHARK will now do just that. SHARK will not rest until pigeon shoots are unceremoniously tossed into the dark pages of Pennsylvania history.

What You Can Do:

Contact DA David Heckler and demand that he enforce Pennsylvania Humane Laws.

Does the American Veterinary Medical Association Condone Pigeon Shoots???!!!

They Aren't Responding to SHARK, Maybe They Will Respond to You

In a February 1, 2010 article in the Philadelphia Daily News that followed the January 30th, 2010 slaughter, Philadelphia Gun Club attorney Sean M. Corr was quoted with the following:

"...the club follows all state-mandated euthanasia procedures, as determined by the American Veterinary Association (AVMA)."

We take very lightly any statement from either pigeon shooters or their attorneys. We also have to keep in mind that gun club attorney Sean Martin Corr is a pigeon shooter, and has made other claims that are absolutely false. We further have to remember that Mr. Corr pled guilty to attacking me at a December 5 shoot on private property next to the Philadelphia killing club. See the video here:

But nonetheless, given the support that the AVMA has given to rodeos, and given that the AVMA supports horse slaughter, and since at one time one of the AVMA's board members thought it acceptable to dispose of spent laying hens by tossing them into wood chippers, is it possible that the AVMA also condones pigeon shoots?

I called the AVMA's headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. I left a message explaining my concerns about Mr. Corr's statement, and indicated the urgency that someone contact me as soon as possible.

The call did not come.

So now I wonder - given the history of the AVMA, does it condone Pennsylvania's Shame? Does the AVMA condone live pigeon shoots?

Since the organization doesn't see fit to return my call, I hope you will help by sending an e-mail or making a call of your own. Please demand that the AVMA make a very clear and unequivocal statement that clearly defines where it stands. We will update you on the issue as soon as possible. Either Philadelphia Gun Club attorney Sean Martin Corr will be made to (again) eat his words, or SHARK will be initiating a new campaign to expose the American Veterinary Medical Association.

What You Can Do:

Please demand that the AVMA make a very clear and unequivocal statement that clearly defines where it stands.

SHARK Turns Up Pressure on Corrupt Berks County DA

DA John Adams Has Accepted Campaign Money from Pigeon Shooters

The misnamed Pike Township Sportsmen's Association has a special friend in Berks County, Pennsylvania -- Berks County District Attorney John Adams. Mr. Adams took the almost unheard of steps of first ordering Pennsylvania Humane Police Officer Johnna Seeton to withdraw her charges for animal cruelty against the pigeon shooters, and when Ms. Seeton refused, D.A. Adams then ordered the local district judge to toss the charges.

We can't help but wonder if campaign donations of at least $1000 had anything to do with D.A. Adams' protection of the pigeon shooters. Anyone who can read the English language (we assume D.A. Adams can read) can see that pigeon shoots are illegal according to existing law.

Adams's insinuation that pigeon shoots are somehow exempt from Pennsylvania humane laws would be comical were it not for the unspeakable suffering and deaths of the victims. SHARK investigators have been documenting those shoots, and now we are aided by the addition of two more Hi-Pod devices, thanks to the extraordinary generosity of television icon Bob Barker.

The Hi-Pods allow us to raise our video cameras over thirty feet into the air, completely knocking out all efforts of the cowardly killers to block us.

Shot pigeon escaped to nearby roof and slowly died.
