SHowing Animals Respect and Kindness (SHARK) has released a video showing horrendous acts of animal cruelty committed at a "barnyard scramble" in Martinsville, Illinois, where dozens of young animals were chased, kicked, dropped and violently handled by hordes of children and event staff.

"This video exposes a very dark side of our state,"said SHARK President and Illinois resident Steve Hindi. "When you see young children trying to kick ducklings and dropping rabbits to the ground, you realize the utter disregard for life that is being taught."

SHARK has sent the following letter to the Dr. Mark Ernst, state veterinarian with the Illinois Department of Agriculture demanding an investigation into the event for multiple violations of Illinois state law.

Mr. Ernst -

Today SHowing Animals Respect and Kindness released a video exposing animal abuse in violation of the Illinois Humane Care for Animals Act at an event in Martinsville, Illinois on July 11, 2013. The Act is further violated because rabbits, ducklings and chicks were given away as prizes.

We will be awaiting word on what action will be taken by the Illinois Department of Agriculture.

Sincerely,

Steve Hindi
