Among the many people that SHARK personally invited to SHARK's April 16, 2008 press conference in Cheyenne, CFD officials were, of course, included.

In a Wyoming-Tribune Eagle article, Charlie West, CFD's general chairman, said "someone from his organization will be at the conference. He added that he hopes for an open conversation about the two sides of the issue."

Mr. West then went on the attack to accuse SHARK of deliberately trying to skew the conference and keep CFD people out. The article states:

"He [West] added that he is skeptical about the motives of SHARK scheduling the meeting during the middle of the day on a weekday. Most CFD volunteers have jobs and can't leave for two hours.

"That might have been done purposely," he said."

However, SHARK was later alerted that Mr. West's statement was disingenuous. At the same time the chairman said he "hopes for open conversation" and is whining to the press that it will be difficult for CFD volunteers to attend, he is putting out a notice to CFD staff that no one is to attend the press conference!

A former CFD volunteer relayed that CFD Chairman West had a message sent prior to the press conference stating that: "Cheyenne Frontier Days Staff, General Committee and Board members will not attend or participate in this press conference."

Typical two-faced rodeo tactic.
